Birth & Early Life

Mahant Swami Maharaj (born Vinu Patel on 13 September 1933) was born in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. From an early age, he displayed sincerity, discipline, and deep spiritual inclination.

Raised in a values-centered family environment, he developed:

  • A strong devotion toward God

  • A calm and introspective nature

  • Respect for elders and spiritual teachers

  • A natural inclination toward prayer and service

His childhood reflected simplicity, humility, and a quiet strength that would later define his spiritual leadership.

Spiritual Initiation

Inspired by Yogiji Maharaj, he formally embraced monastic life in 1961, receiving Bhagwati Diksha (initiation into the Hindu monastic order).

Through initiation, he committed himself to:

  • Celibacy and renunciation

  • Absolute devotion to God

  • Selfless service (Seva)

  • Lifelong spiritual discipline

His guru recognized in him exceptional humility, obedience, and spiritual depth.

The Oppression

As British officers tightened revenue laws and seized tribal lands, forests turned from homes into battlegrounds. Exploitation replaced harmony, and injustice became daily reality.
